I have recently attained a master’s degree in Environmental Geochemistry from the Colorado School of Mines. Prior to this program I graduated Magna cum laude from Trinity University with a B.S. in Geosciences and a B.A. in Environmental Studies under an engineering concentration. During my high school years I participated in multiple National Honor Societies, scored high on the ACT and SAT tests, and graduated in the Top 10%.

I have tutored for middle through college-level courses. During high school I was hired as a private tutor for middle school math, science, and English/language arts. These sessions were 30 minute 1-on-1 lessons where students brought their homework and class projects for review and understanding of material. Throughout my undergrad I tutored both middle and high school students with a specialty in the STEM courses and I started offering test-prep options. I was a TA for 2 years in general chemistry at the college level. My main duties were experiment set-up and pre-lab review, but this position also allowed me to gain some experience as a lecturer and as a secondary source of information. I added the position of peer tutor to my schedule and offered a combined total of 6 office hours a week where students could come and ask questions or seek homework help.

I have experience in neurodivergent learning and teaching (ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, ASD). My approach to tutoring and teaching has 3 main components: (1) foundational understanding of the material, (2) critical thinking of the material, and (3) application of the material to the outside world. I believe that learning is more than the temporary memorization of a subject for the sake of a good grade on a test. To really learn something means that you have the ability to explain its process and apply it to other facets of life.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

In high school I participated in the FFA Parliamentary Procedure and Public Speaking competitions ad advanced to a regional level for both. In college I regularly helped lead prospective student speaker sessions for the Career Services office. Since then I have presented several research projects at national and state level conventions and engaged in a mentoring program for public speaking at these conventions.
Swimming

Swimming

I began competitive swim team at age 5 and continued until age 18. I swam for the school team through middle school and two years of high school (pre-injury). I volunteered as a swimming assistant for ages 6-10 on the swim team and then later began offering private lessons for beginner to intermediate levels. I currently work as a swim instructor (ages 6 months to 12 years) and am a head coach for the swim team prep program.
Violin

Violin

I started playing the viola 12 years ago during a 6th grade program and have loved it ever since. In high school I volunteered for the local 5th grade strings programs (teaching all 4 string instruments) and participated in both UIL and full orchestra competitions (earning straight 1s). In college I auditioned for the Trinity Symphony Orchestra and played in their full orchestra for 4 years. In my free time I still continue to play for fun and offer small private lessons for beginner viola/violin/cello and intermediate violin/viola.
Volleyball

Volleyball

I have played for school volleyball for middle school and 2 years in high school. Simultaneously, I joined Club-level volleyball teams that traveled for three years. After high school, I joined the club volleyball team in college and offered private lessons for other players in the area. Senior year I was the captain of the club volleyball team (in charge of game and practice organization) and continue to offer private or group lessons locally.

Really helped with my essay!

She was kind and helpful, I needed a tutor to help with an essay on the civil rights movement and she helped set up a structure to get it done.
