I love the moment that my instruction helps a student to understand important concepts and practices that they will use over and over to succeed in high school and college. I particularly like teaching students how to write essays and speeches that earn them high grades and teach them the skill of persuasion. I am particularly skilled at helping students come up with strong thesis statements and helping them use the thesis statement to organize a paper.

I have over twenty years of teaching experience, both at the college and high school level. I believe that all students can learn to form strong arguments, both verbally and in written form!

I began my teaching career at an access college where many students needed remedial help in English composition. I became invested in learning to teach these skills more proficiently and wondered why many of my students came to college less than prepared for their writing assignments. I eventually decided to return to school to get my K-12 teaching credential where I worked with veteran teachers who excelled at teaching all types of students to write well and improve their ACT and SAT scores.
