I am a senior double major in nuclear engineering and aerospace engineering at the University of Tennessee. I have always loved math and science and am very passionate about sharing my knowledge of these subjects. I love talking about math, physics, chemistry, and engineering concepts and applications. I have worked with kids both in the classroom and in the dojo. I am a second degree black belt in Taekwondo, and spent upwards of 10 years teaching people of all ages and backgrounds, from children as young as 3 years old to fully grown adults with the bulk of my students being children between 8 and 16. I am a firm believer in the fact that anyone can learn anything with quality instruction that a traditional classroom setting might not always provide. Thru patience, discipline and the want to be successful, anyone can go from a novice to a master. I know all too well that poor instruction can be frustrating and discouraging when trying to learn challenging material from my own course work. I like to provide real world examples to illustrate how some of the more abstract concepts found in math and physics can actually be applied and used in real life. I am willing to go to any lengths to get the material across. If that means throwing a football around to learn trigonometry then we are going outside to throw a football around. I have passed the AP courses and final exam for college credit in both Physics C mechanics and electricity in magnetism as well as in Calculus BC. I have also been very successful and have tutored in Calculus 1-3 and in differential equations in college, both with matlab and on paper. I have also made an ACT Math score of 35 (out of 36) and am very comfortable teaching any learning style this material to be successful in any standardized math test.

I want any student I help to be successful. Using any resource that will help lead to success and positive reinforcement, we can improve grades, comprehension of the material, and overall confidence! I am easy to reach and will respond as soon

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

In my day to day classwork I have used concepts from calculus 1-3 and differential equations. I have tutored many classmates through these subjects, helping them not only improve their grades by as much as two letter grades, but also helping their understanding of the material.
MATLAB

MATLAB

In my degree programs many classes require writing involved matlab scripts for homework and projects. I have completed projects requiring anything in matlab from simple graphing of data to using Simulink to model the steady state behavior of 8 different parameters within a nuclear reactor. I have done many hands on things with matlab as well such as using the software to program a raspberry pi micro-controller in order to give commands to a modified roomba robot.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I am a senior Aerospace engineering student at the University of Tennessee. I have experience tutoring fellow students in statics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and system dynamics.
Physics

Physics

I have a bachelor's degrees in both aerospace engineering and nuclear engineering. I have taken dozens of physics courses covering topics from basic kinematics to Nuclear and quantum physics.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I hold bachelors degrees in aerospace engineering and nuclear engineering, and did some graduate level research in aerospace engineering. My focus area is in thermal fluids, gas dynamics, and compressible flow. I have taken dozens of thermodynamics courses and my graduate research was on hypersonic engines.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I am a senior double majoring in aerospace engineering and nuclear engineering. I use trigonometric functions and identities all the time in my course work. I am very familiar with not only the functions and manipulating them, but also the practical application of them.

Reviews

Fantastic! Patient and comprehensive!

Really helped my daughter on first session with honors physics in reviewing concepts, missed questions and clarification of how to approach these problems. Highly recommend. We will plan more sessions as needed.

Emma, 1 lesson with Alexander

Very understandable.

Alexander was able to help me with some statics problems. He made sure that I understood everything he was doing along the way. I felt like I was able to take my time and review all that he was teaching.

Samuel, 1 lesson with Alexander

Prepared and Knowledgeable

Alexander asked us for materials prior to the lesson, so that he would be prepared. He was patient, knowledgeable, and he communicated well. We are very satisfied with his work.

Very knowledgeable and great teacher

Fully understands topic, listens to questions and meets me where I am on the topic and takes time to help me understand. Very personable. Helped me on homework and study for a thermodynamics test.

Knowledgeable, Patient, and Exceptional Teacher!

We are so thrilled to have Alexander on our sons team! He has been such a tremendous blessing!! He helps to clarify and explain in much greater detail and depth my sons questions. We've worked with Alexander for 2 years and in 3 different classes:: Algebra, Geometry and Physics! We look forward to working with him for many more years and classes!

Amazing tutor

Alexander is not only proficient in his understanding of thermodynamics, he enjoys it. I was looking for a tutor who does more then just provide help with homework questions. Alexander gets into the theories and concepts covered by each problem rather than just finding the solution to the problems. I have not walked away from a lesson with him without gaining clarity and confidence on the materials we covered and most importantly a strong foundation on the topics.

Excellent Tutor

The session was exactly what I needed. The material was communicated in a ways that were easy to understand. Looking forward to more sessions.

Best Tutor Ever

Alexander G. Makes everything very simple to understand and execute. He really wants you to be able to understand your material and breaks it down to be very simple and understandable. Which is very hard to do with thermodynamics but he is able to do it!
