Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is the basis for any higher level math class. I have a Masters in Mathematics, so I am well versed in using Algebra in the theoretical world. As a technical business person with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, I used algebra in everyday business settings including product design, quality assurance, strategic planning and business statistics on a routine basis. I know I can help you understand Algebra, because I understand it - both in theory and in practice!
Finite Math

Finite Math

Finite Math generally includes the following subjects: set operations, Venn Diagrams, probability, permutations and combinations, matrices, solving systems of equations, linear programming and mathematics of finance. My Master's degree in mathematics included the study of all of these areas in the theory of Mathematics classes that I took as part of the MS degree. I specifically took an undergraduate class in matrix algebra, and two masters classes in general linear models that used matrix algebra as the basis for the class. My undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering included a semester of economics - using all of the equations presented in a business finance class. In addition, as the former President of a $70 million research firm, I understand the equations used in the mathematics of finance. I have successfully taught students using other tutoring platforms in finite mathematics, achieving ratings of 5 out of 5 for my work. In fact, I am currently engaged as a finite mathematics tutor for a college senior who is taking the course. I have Certifications from the American Society for Quality in Quality Engineering and Quality Management that also included some of these subjects.
GED

GED

I have been in the work world for a long time as a technical employee and a manager. I know how important having a GED is for the work place - many jobs won't even let you apply unless you have a high school diploma or a GED! I can help you prepare for the test by showing you how each of these areas, especially the math portion, can be used in real life to help you achieve your goals.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Lisa tutored me on Excel and taught me how to break things down into manageable steps, moving forward piece by piece. It takes time and can be challenging, but Lisa helped put my mind at ease with the charts and examples she used to explain everything clearly as we discussed it. I’m looking forward to our next lesson—Lisa is a great tutor to have!
