My personal educational philosophy is to help students not just to find the right answers but help to develop problem-solving skills and the ability to use their resources effectively. This approach to tutoring does more than just prepare a student to take and pass a test, it prepares them to be successful wherever life takes them. One of the benefits of this philosophy is that students learn to work independently rather than becoming reliant on a tutor. This is particularly powerful when a potential employer is determining which applicant is best able to work independently with the self-motivation to complete the tasks they are given.

I started tutoring around 7 years ago, focusing mainly on various tests preparation as well as middle school and high school math problems.

I also have experience working with adults who are in need of GED/HiSET help. I try to explain hard and confusing math problems in a simple way so my students can get more confident and stop being afraid of math and science. I'm very focused on results and it's very important to me that my students achieve success in their academic work.

I love helping students discover that they can succeed in Math. I find that many students struggling in Algebra 1 often just need a little encouragement and guidance before they begin making connections and having “aha!” moments that greatly increases their motivation and enjoyment. My focus is on trying to create many of these little victories for the students by setting them up for success through careful structuring of the concepts/problems. Algebra 1 is a critical topic in a student’s math development, and my goal is to help them build a good foundation for their future math classes while providing useful frameworks for learning other subjects.

SAT Math

I have a degree in Robotics Engineering and have taken the highest level math courses in graduate school. I have tutored students for the GED, ACT and SAT tests and yet am able to teach the very basics if needed. I teach how to eliminate wrong choices on the test and verify the correct answer quickly.

Encouraging and Engaging
