Hi, I’m Jacqueline — a published author, former college English instructor, and experienced ESL tutor. For 20+ years, I’ve helped students turn essays into writing that is clear, confident, and well-structured. From AP English and ENG 101 to conversational ESL, I blend academic expertise with a writer’s ear for clarity, voice, and flow.
I hold a B.S. in Secondary English Education from Wright State University and an M.A. in English Northern Arizona University. My background spans academic, creative, and professional writing: I’m a published mystery author and spent a decade as a professional ghostwriter for online businesses and bloggers — experiences that balance scholarly rigor with engaging, real-world writing.
I’ve taught and tutored learners from high school through adults. For more than a decade I taught college composition and literature (ENG 101/102) at Coconino Community College, in person and online. I also worked for six years in the writing center, guiding students one-on-one to refine drafts and strengthen arguments, and four years as an academic research librarian, teaching research strategy and MLA/APA citation. These roles gave me a full view of the writing process—from first ideas to polished final drafts.
Alongside college teaching, I’ve tutored ESL for 10+ years, including six years teaching workplace English to managers at Honda of America. Current ESL support includes conversational English, vocabulary, pronunciation, and academic English for essays.
I work with both high school (including AP English Language & Literature) and college writers. Common needs include research papers, argumentative/persuasive essays, compare-and-contrast, cause-and-effect, rhetorical analysis, and literature essays (including theory-based analysis). I also provide editing and proofreading to improve thesis development, organization, clarity, grammar, style, and overall polish.
My style is supportive and practical, focused on lasting skills beyond a single paper.
