I am currently a substitute teacher for the Montrose County School District, teaching all subjects.
I have an extensive background in Art and Industrial Arts, and enjoy teaching all age levels. I always let students know what my expectations are, so we both can focus on what we are there for. A lot of students appreciate my straight-forward approach to learning, and request me for future substituting assignments.
I also teach a Judo class in Montrose. I have had a lot of experiences in my life, and try to apply those experiences to the way that I relate to children and young adults. I believe that patience, diligence and a good work ethic are qualities that need to be practiced and developed, and will reward those that practice them throughout their life. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been using AutoCad for over ten years, and have worked as a draftsman and computer modeler. I do free-lance drafting and modeling, and can help students learn about real-world applications of CAD/CAM software that includes accuracy and deadlines.
I am a substitute teacher for the Montrose County School District, and have taught all subjects and grade levels. I can help k-6 students with whatever needs they have, and I try to make my lessons interesting and relevant.
I have been working with computers for over 15 years, and have learned programs ranging from basic word-processing to computer-aided design and manufacturing.
I know the basics of computer operation and repair, from having maintained my own computers and the computers of companies that I have worked for.
I believe that good keyboarding skills are important for younger students to learn early- the rest will come with practice.
I have been practicing Judo for 45 years. I have been teaching classes in Montrose, CO for the last 20 years, and have conducted workshops and clinics throughout Colorado. I specialize in self-defense applications for women and children, and try to impart some of the character-building concepts that I learned from my martial arts teachers.
I have been doing photography for more than 30 years, starting in high school where I was one of the yearbook photographers. I started out using film cameras and learned darkroom developing and editing for photographic film. I now use digital cameras exclusively, and studied photography, graphic art and photo-editing in college. I still produce graphic artwork using digital photography.
