About Linda

Bio

I have been a tutor and a teacher of English, reading, language arts, math, spelling, speed reading, and grammar for 35 years. I hold a bachelor's in English and a Master's in Education with endorsements in reading and special education. I had a tutoring business in Fort Collins for nine years and now tutor in Loveland, CO. I have been a tutor and a teacher of English, reading, language arts, math, spelling, speed reading, and grammar for 35 years. I hold a bachelor's in English and a Master's in Education with endorsements in reading and special education. I had a tutoring business in Fort Collins for nine years and now tutor in Loveland, CO. I also taught English, reading and special education in the public schools, and speed reading and study skills at the college level. Additionally, for thirteen years, I was the Academic and Special Education Coordinator for a top-rated charter school in Ft. Collins, Liberty Common Charter School. I love tutoring! I have great rapport with my clients. Students often come up a grade level or more in a short time under my tutelage. I am especially versed in learning disabilities, ADHD, and dyslexia and use specialized techniques for such. Also I have designed my own teaching products and games that I use with great success!

I have a degree in English and have tutored in English since 1976. I understand grammar and writing skills like nobody's business. I am patient and am able to use color-coding and certain techniques to help students understand the underpinnings of writing, grammar, and usage.

I am trained in Lindamood-Bell phonics and understand phonetic awareness and phonics at a deep level. My teaching techniques help even the hardest learner succeed.

Besides my Master’s in reading and special education, I have taken numerous workshops on ADHD - diagnosis and treatment of such - including training from Barkley, Levine, Lindamood-Bell, CHADD, John Taylor, and numerous others. I also held positions on the Poudre School District Task Force for ADHD, The Treehouse Center for ADHD and Learning Disabilities, and have provided consultation to doctors and therapists on mutual clients for such. Additionally I consulted with and gave talks to the local chapter for Parents of ADHD and was gifted their extensive library of materials when they disbanded.

I have a degree in English Education and have taught junior high English in the past. I have a Master's Degree in Education and have been a professional tutor for 30 years.
Grammar

Grammar

I taught and tutored grammar as an English teacher early in my career. Since that time, I also created a Grammar Game for Teachers. I still love teaching and tutoring grammar today with great success!
Phonics

Phonics

I have a Master's in Education with endorsements in reading and special education. I am certified as a reading specialist and have studied phonics, phonetics, and phonemic awareness through several avenues including the Lindamood-Bell system. I am well-versed in dyslexia, and remediating with phonics is a tried and true method to treat this and other reading disorders and spelling difficulties. I also grew up learning phonics and was a reader by the time I entered school - winning several book awards for my ability to apply phonics to decoding new words and mastering books above my grade level.

I am a professional English educator and was a professional proofreader at one time for Poudre High School. I have taught at the college level and have a English Education degree as well as a Master's in Education. I am an excellent writer.

Amazing tutor!

Linda was able to really help me with what I needed to get done to complete my project successfully. I was not able to get the help I needed from who was supposed to help me. Linda was able to help me more than anyone else who has helped me throughout my semester. I would really recommend using Linda as a tutor!
