Hey there! My name is Brenna and I have a Bachelor's Degree in English with a concentration in Teaching, and a Master's Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. I often get questions about my graduate degree; I studied in a specialized program to learn how to support undergraduate students in their college experience, and teach them both inside the classroom and out! I also student-taught English Language Arts to 5th graders in college and became a certified teacher in the state of Pennsylvania prior to graduate school. Life led me to my master's program when I found that I enjoyed working with students more when I could support them holistically (both in academics and life), which working at universities for almost 10 years allowed me to do. Now, I work in Sales at a technology company, and I miss the joy that comes from helping others learn and succeed! I'm able to apply my teaching background in my current job, but I'm excited about the opportunity to work with students more directly again through tutoring.
I'm confident in my abilities to teach English/Language Arts and enjoy challenging myself with teaching Math as I took advanced courses in school myself. I have supported learners ages 5 - 21 throughout my life, whether that was working as a camp counselor during the summer, teaching college students in their first-year seminar, or mentoring as a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I pride myself on my ability to help individuals of all backgrounds and identities, and strive to make education more accessible for everyone. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and see the relationship between a teacher and a student as a partnership--I'm always learning from my students!
In my free time, I love to be outside (hiking, biking, running, climbing, camping, etc.) here in Colorado. Going to live music with my husband is my jam, and if I'm not dancing at a show, you can find me playing guitar or snuggling up with my dog at home.
