I have learned that these kinds of teachers and lessons were the most motivating and the easiest to remember. As a teacher, I bring in as much fun and allow for as much student creativity in my lessons as I can. Lessons begin with an easy warm up so students can feel more comfortable with the lesson. Next, I directly teach or review the material for the day. I always like to give students a chance to ask questions throughout the lesson so they can always feel confident using the material. Students also get plenty of time to practice the material on their own, or with me for conversation practice. Giving extra study strategies and bonus tips so that students can succeed more outside of the lesson are provided as much as possible. My goals for each lesson are: high energy, lots of imagination, that the student learned something new, a comfortable environment, and more motivation for the student to learn.
As an English teacher, I taught English as a foreign language to many different kinds of students for over 18 months in Japan. My experience includes teaching: from ages 2 - 80, complete beginners, highly advanced students, business men and women, high-school students, retirees, government workers, and more. Also, I have done special tutoring to both kids and adults for speech contests, reading practice, grammar and more. It was really enjoyable to make the extra effort to get to know what was more interesting and memorable for each student so I could adjust my explanation and practice to each student. No matter what level a student is, or what interest they have, I always love helping them reach their goals.
