I am a dedicated, enthusiastic professional committed to student development and the learning experience. I have a masters in elementary education and six years of teaching experience delivering effective instruction in the classroom. I am skilled in leveraging high-yield educational strategies to consistently provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary to exceed their individual and targeted learning goals. I develop lessons following a gradual release model in addition to using Understanding by Design and essential questions to plant the objective.
I have had six years experience teaching elementary mathematics, from grades first through fifth. I have worked with ability-based, mixed grade level classes to ensure engagement and success. Curriculum I have implemented ranges from Core Knowledge and Common Core to programs such as Saxon Math, Everyday Math, Investigations, Envisions, First in Math, and GoMath.
Through my six years of teaching elementary science in the classroom, I have developed a hands-on approach and STEM based lessons. I have also worked with Core Knowledge and Pearson Interactive Science curriculum.
In the classroom, I have had extensive experience with the Reading and Writing Workshop method, as well as incorporated varied centers to scaffold support during independent work time. I differentiate lessons and assessments based on students’ strengths and areas of improvement, especially when working with mixed ability groups.
