Nice to meet you! My name is Emily, and I am currently a PhD student in mechanical engineering. Through my degree program, I have had the opportunity to mentor around 20 students with diverse backgrounds as they navigate college classes, research, and applying to grad school! I have taken advanced coursework in heat transfer, mathematics, thermodynamics, and building energy modeling.
I have a background as well in environmental engineering and have learned about systems, environmental policy, and capstone work through this. I am a certified LEED Green Associate and Engineer in Training!
I enjoy working one-on-one with students to best understand where their current understanding is and believe that foundational understanding in a topic is key to any advanced learning. I am happy to take the time to work with a student in exactly what they need. I believe thoroughly that scientific communication is a key part of what I do, and have a lot of experience explaining difficult scientific concepts to the general public including national media corporations.
Please let me know what you're hoping to learn, any current syllabi/problem sets, and how we can get you there! I look forward to working with you!
