As a coach, as a volunteer, as a tutor, I follow a simple rule: Teach other people's children the way I'd like them to teach my own kids! As the parent of a 9th grader and a 6th grader, I understand the need for flexibility, for patience, and for setting expectations, when dealing with students AND when dealing with parents. I've spent more than 10 years coaching youth soccer, I have 20 years experience doing corporate finance and financial modeling professionally, and I have a few professional licenses that you probably haven't heard of so I won't bother listing them here.
I'm college educated (got my B.A. from an elite private liberal arts school), was Valedictorian of my high school class of 700, and I have experience teaching kids in homeless shelters on two continents. But I'm also a parent: I get that EVERY child and every family has different needs. A tutor is one part teacher, one part coach, one part taskmaster, and one part entertainer. To nail all those pieces consistently requires not just academic knowledge, but also a certain kind of personality, a vision, and an excitement for what each kid can bring to the table.
As a tutor with limited professional experience at this point, I'm willing to offer an extremely affordable rate. I'm primarily targeting Math and English tutoring to kids aged 4th grade to 9th grade, but for high schoolers I can also offer advanced tutoring on Excel and Management Accounting, as well as career coaching for the entire Financial Services industry!
