I am a tutor in mathematics, statistics, and data science. I have a PhD in applied mathematics, with an emphasis in finite geometry and algebra, mainly groups and finite fields. I have taught college algebra, trigonometry, calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, statistics, and an introductory proofs course and I tutor in those areas. I grew up in Denver and spent the first 20 or so years after high school working at blue-collar jobs, mostly in commercial printing, but I also spent some time as a heavy equipment operator and as a cook and brewer. I received my undergraduate degree, and later my PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado Denver. After graduation, I worked as a bioinformatics researcher at the University of Colorado Medical School. I now teach mathematics and statistics full time. In my spare time I like to cook, work out, read, and play chess.
I enjoy teaching math because it is useful and I find it beautiful, and I hope that students come to see the usefulness and some of the beauty also.
