Hi! My name is Kristin (she/her). I'm currently a Physics PhD candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder and I study Physics Education Research. I am also a former middle/high school math and science teacher in Denver Public Schools, primarily working with 7th through 10th grade students on math concepts from pre-algebra to pre-calculus. I have a BA in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a BS in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a MS in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder. I'm passionate about helping students reach their goals by helping them build the math skills they need for success.

With three years of experience as a public school teacher, I have worked with students from all walks of life to improve their mathematics skills. It is important to me as a teacher that my students not only improve their course grades through tutoring, but understand their own challenges with math and develop skills to ask the right questions. Oftentimes, students begin to struggle in math because they did not fully understand one or more fundamental concepts from earlier math classes. Because math builds on itself, it is important to go back and address those concepts that were not fully understood in order to once again excel at math and reach your goals. As a tutor, it is important to me that I help my students discover these areas for growth and continue to solidify these foundational skills. Furthermore, as a researcher who studies how students learn, I approach teaching with a curious, evidence-based attitude.
