About Wen

Bio

I hold a Ph.D. in Physics from Penn State and have over 8 years of experience teaching physics at every level, from 9th–11th grade high school physics and AP Physics C to college physics at CU Boulder and UC Berkeley. I specialize in breaking down challenging concepts, calculus, and problem-solving into clear, manageable steps.

My tutoring approach is structured, interactive, and patient. Rather than giving answers, I guide students step by step through problems, helping them build skills in diagrams, mathematical modeling, calculus setups, and physical reasoning. When a concept doesn't click, I use different explanations, visualizations, or real-world analogies to find an approach that works.

For AP Physics students, I use College Board scoring guidelines and past FRQs to help students develop clear, precise solutions and maximize their points.

Student Ratings (CU Boulder Physics)
• 95.5% top rating for effective use of technology to enhance learning
• 4.86/5.0 for instructor availability and individual support
• 4.73/5.0 for building deep conceptual understanding

What Students Say:
• High School
"Great teacher... she even helped me decide on what college to go to based on her knowledge of the physics major and inspired me to study physics in college."
"She has a hands-on learning curriculum that actively engages students... She makes sure we all understand the material and makes sure no one has questions."
• College
"Before starting I knew I hated physics. Now I enjoy physics, and it's because of you! You've been an amazing professor by always being there to help us and explain these hard concepts."
"Her explanations of concepts and derivations are easy to follow, and she's always willing and able to bring a second approach if students need it."

Physics

I hold a Ph.D. in Physics from Penn State and have over a decade of university and high school teaching experience, including at UC Berkeley and CU Boulder. I focus on breaking down abstract physics concepts and challenging mathematical setups into clear, manageable steps that make sense, while building students’ confidence and interest in physics. I specialize in helping AP Physics (1, 2, and C) and college physics students master core concepts, calculus-based problem solving, and free-response questions (FRQs). My structured, student-centered approach earned a 4.86/5.0 student support rating and a 95.5% top rating for effective use of technology to enhance learning at CU Boulder.
