Hello, I'm Matthew. I have had a love of learning new things for as long as I can remember, and a love of helping others learn for just as long. Right now, personalized learning is more important than ever, and I'm here to help. I have recently received an A.S. magna cum laude in pursuit of a physics degree, and I believe that right now the best way I can spend my time is to devote it fully to helping others learn. Learning is a two-way street that never ends, and I am ready to learn how YOU learn, so I can explain things in a way that works for you.
Personal Communication is essential. I recognize how hard online learning through a classroom can be, I myself have struggled in the past with online classes because of this lack of personalization. Individualized explanations are the most important in math and science, where one needs to really understand concepts before moving on. Let me provide that personalization, and you'll be rewarded with a tailored explanation and a proactive response to feedback.
Math is not about numbers, the same way Astronomy is not about telescopes. Math is about being able to look at a problem in more than one way, making connections you never thought you could, finding patterns you never thought would be there, and the poetry backstage that ties the universe together. More than just explaining how to use math and chugging through calculations, it's my goal to show these patterns, getting people excited to see them and inspired to find more. That is what actually Doing math is all about, and it's fun!

Matthew did a great job helping my son prepare for his first Trig. test. (Especially considering he took the session on short notice). We will be working with him again!!! Thanks Matt!Demetrius, 1 lesson with Matthew
Matthew H was really helpful in finding new ways to describe physics that allowed me to understand difficult topics. He was also very patient with the fact that I don’t have much physics knowledge.Chloe, 1 lesson with Matthew
Matthew has helped my son excel and not only with trig, but also physics. I came to Matthew when my son was failing physics last year and he was able to make so much improvement and provide progress quickly. a Highly, highly recommend.Ava, 15 lessons with Matthew
LITERALLY THE BEST TUTOR EVER
He taught me trigonometry literally in 1 hour and I never knew it before. I was able to get 100% on a khan academy unit related to trigonometry. Matthew explained everything in different ways to help me understand it. Iv tried out over 10 tutors and he's definitely the best one and I take lessons from his multiple times a week. Highly recommend.June, 18 lessons with Matthew
Terrific Tutor for High School Senior
Normally a strong science student, my daughter was increasingly frustrated with her Senior Year Physics -- and was getting worried at her ability to keep up her GPA due to her lack of confidence in the class. She understood the formulas but the online classroom setting was disabling her from quality time to understand the fundamentals. In one session, Matthew quickly assessed my daughter's abilities and easily gained her trust. In the follow up sessions, he helped her regain confidence and greater knowledge of the mechanics of physics - zeroing in on particular areas that she needed more explanation for. I highly recommend Matthew as a great tutor, able to assess a student's abilities, and adjust teaching to work at her level to really build her confidence.Janis, 11 lessons with Matthew
Is an Amazing Tutor
He is way better than my own teacher and gave me a lot of knowledge to work with so I got a way better grade on my tests than I usually do since he explains the material in depth which I love.CLINTON, 2 lessons with Matthew
Knowledgeable and Effective
Matthew really helped my daughter feel at ease as she was nervous about working with a tutor. He was very personable and respectful when speaking with me and my daughter. My daughter completed 2 physics assignments since and received an A on all 3 just from 1 session and some fundamentals Matthew was able to teach her. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MATTHEW!Ashley, 1 lesson with Matthew
He was knowledgeable and easy to understand. We reviewed vectors. He simplified the subject matter. It was easier to grasp the concepts. Looking forward to the next lesson.Tracey, 4 lessons with Matthew
Patient and kind tutor
Matthew has been helping our teen with AP Physics. This subject has been challenging for our teen, but his style is reassuring and patient and our teen feels comfortable working with him. He also has been responsive and flexible with our short-term scheduling which we really appreciate. Overall, Matthew is a great tutor who works to understand where the student is at in terms of their knowledge and then teaches them from there. Although we've only been using him for a few sessions, out teen's grade is already starting to improve, along with their understanding of the subject matter. Wish we would've sought out his help sooner, but we hope to work with him for continued support throughout the school year.Susan, 5 lessons with Matthew
