University of Arizona and University of Northern Colorado (Elementary Education)
I am a Junior at the University of Northern Colorado that transferred from two years at the University of Arizona. I am currently enrolled in Elementary Education classes to earn a Master's with a bilingual endorsement. I have completed over 70 hours of observation work in 4th and 5th grade classrooms, which have helped me gain a solid understanding of multiculturalism, testing, and teaching techniques that sustain attention and learning growth among students. I am a firm believer in explaining things in various ways in order to achieve the student's complete and full understanding on any given area of study.
I received a 30 on my English portion of the ACT, which placed me in honors English my freshman year at U of A. I have also taken Children's Lit 480, which places emphasis on the importance of literature in the classroom. I am proficient in techniques and lessons that include responding to texts, critical thinking, grammar, and descriptive, expository, persuasive, narrative, and poetry writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
