I love helping students become confident, successful life-long learners, all within the scope of their specific classes. I have walked-the-walk and talked-the-talk from struggling through remedial placement to excelling in graduate course work. I not only understand math but have been in your shoes. I am patient while expecting students to always try their best. Mistakes are a normal part of the growing process.

I have experience as a nationally certified tutor, tutoring in high school and college, as well as volunteer tutoring of the GED math tests. I have also taught middle and high school mathematics and instructed college mathematics. I enjoy working with teenagers and adults of all ages. My tutoring and teaching experience includes elementary school to grandparents in age, as well as non-traditional students, and Veterans.

If both your homework and our sessions are online then I request that you print to PDF your assignment and email it to me before our session. For higher level classes (Calculus, Stats, etc) please do this at least one day (preferably two) in advance to make sure I have time to prepare specifically for you.

Additionally, I can supplement or substitute regular homework with specific and tailored lesson plans.

Shortly after each session, I will report our progress and my observations, including instructions for follow up.

I strongly recommend the use of the Wyzant app for easier communication and calendaring purposes.

I enjoy helping each student recognize that they are, in fact, capable of learning and succeeding in mathematics. I look forward to the opportunity to serve.

I do not tutor CMU/WCCC students in class levels that I at the time teach or students that I have taught in the past as I am employed as math faculty.

I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your math goals.

Excellent tutor!

My son was struggling with a remote summer Calculus 3 course when I asked Nathan for help. Nathan’s tutoring sessions were a game-changer! My son’s attitude became more positive and his weekly test scores improved. My son says that Nathan is very knowledgeable and that he has helpful and thorough explanations for difficult concepts. Nathan is great with communication and I highly recommend him.

Above and Beyond

We are very appreciative of Nathan and the time he gave to our son. We needed a last minute tutor to help our Junior in high school pass his Algebra II exam and Nathan not only made the time in his schedule to book two separate 2 hour blocks, but he also worked a half an hour past the pre-arranged time to ensure that they made it through all of the review questions. He taught in a way that kept our 17 year old's attention and made it easy for him to understand and follow. Thank you, Nathan!

He deserves five stars, all around!

By far Nathan was the best math tutor I have ever had. He deserves five stars, all around. Nate helped me complete an AP calculus class and pass with flying colors when I really struggle with math and had no idea how I even made it to AP calc. A huge thankyou to him for all the time and effort he puts into his students, he really does care about each one of us!

Excert from my daughters Math teacher

Hi! As far as next year, although placement is Dr. Ciccone’s domain, I fully expect that Grace will be placed in Honors Algebra ext year. I did recommend her 😎. Grace has been a pleasure to teach. She is a young woman of character with an extremely high aptitude for mathematics. Kind Regards, Aishetu A
