Hello! Attention families seeking an enthusiastic early grade piano instructor for their children ages 7 - 12. I am a college graduate of Grand Valley State University who has worked with children in both educational and fun settings. I have been studying music my entire life. Just 5 years ago I taught myself piano as a college science student and here's what I am continuing to learn from this experience..

1. Real learning is active - Learning to play an instrument takes active participation from the musician. The student must cultivate a love for learning - which usually improves other areas of life!
2. Practice efficiently - To do so, target your goals. Learn what can be accomplished via musical expression.
3. Lifelong commitment - Improvement complies over time. It is important to instill the willingness to stick with it through the years.
4. Have fun! - Last but not least. Music is supposed to be enjoyable. If an attachment is made early in a child’s life, then they are bound for future musical success. The three previous steps become natural when engaging in the fourth.

These are four of my most important take away points that I believe I can help your child understand during my practice sessions. Any lesson can be tailored towards the student’s goals and I am confident I can find a curriculum for a beginning student to quickly grasp the necessary theory.

I have a Biomedical Science degree and studied and array of life sciences and chemistry.

I play mostly classical music (Bach, Chopin, Liszt) and a cross between other stylistic piano music.
