I have been tutoring since I entered college. I have taught middle school art, math and English, gifted learners, ESL students. General study skills, Adhd, editing papers, test prep are my specialties. I am a fierce editor, and know how to write and edit. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2009. I now live in Colorado with my husband and three children, two girls and a boy who is on the spectrum. I have been tutoring for 10 plus years now in many different fields and am especially excited about online students as well. I have studied and taught English and Art in England, Costa Rica and Thailand where I worked with ESL/ESOL students and language acquisition. I've tutored at various locations, working with kids from all backgrounds, from 1st grade to graduate students. I nannied for 2 different families with autistic children, and various learning disabilities. I know how to design lessons and units, differentiate and also helped implement my schools IB world program. I am very familiar with common core and standards K-12.
I believe that to really learn and experience new material, you must have an engaging teacher that you can relate to. One of my biggest strengths is my ability to relate to kids, and connecting learning to the outside world.
Every person comes from a unique situation and as a young, passionate and enthusiastic educator, I feel it is my duty and responsibility to help ensure that all students feel success in life. Whether it be social, developmental, sports or the challenge of meeting state academic standards, I have a massive amount of resources for every subject area. I am both creative and diverse in my approach, and consistent in meeting the academic needs of each and every student.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

In my time as a middle school art teacher for 3 years, I experienced teaching 6 different students all with Autism and varying degrees of it. All special needs kids were fully integrated and in class with 30 other students in both Art and PE classes. I taught these students in class every other day for the entire year, and had numerous meetings about these students. Before teaching and during my first year, I was a nanny for a year and a half of three kids, one of whom was diagnosed on the autism spectrum. I took care of him from 4 p.m. till bedtime and was responsible for everything from feeding, homework, bathing, etc. and had to deal with and experience tantrums and the physical abuse that came with it. This experience is really what gave me the foundation and knowledge about Autism.

Painting

Painting

I went to The University of Georgia and received my degree in Studio Art - with an emphasis in 2 areas: painting/drawing and ceramics. After completing the foundation courses in painting and drawing, I elected to take Independent Studies only offered to Junior/Senior level students. These courses allowed me to work one-on-one with my professors and lots of flexibility and freedom. This experience was very similar to tutoring in many ways as I was able to go at my own pace, choose subjects I wanted to do or wanted more experience in and above all, I was able to create long lasting and trusting relationships with my professors. Additionally, I am a certified Art teacher and have massive amount of resources to offer.
Soccer

Soccer

I have played soccer for the past 22 years and coached soccer at the middle school level for the past 2 years. I spent 7 years playing on a competitive club level team, and recieved multiple awards in high school for my abilities(MVP and Leading scorer for 4 straight years). I have been playing soccer for the past three years in a co-Ed adult league in Athens, GA. I was the Head Coach of the Girls Soccer team for 2 years and led the team to its first winning season since 2003 (10 years).
Study Skills

Study Skills

Studying is an essential aspect to every part of the learning process. I have been helping kids understand the studying process since 2007. After taking and being trained in ESL/ESOL, I began working with Spanish speaking students that didn't just need help from a tutor but needed help learning English so they could then better understand and acquire the skills to become a better student, and become better equipped in the learning process. I understand the fundamentals of the learning process and language acquisition and have experience through in and outside of the classroom. I took many education courses in my undergraduate studies and through my work in the public school system as a teacher gained experience as well. People learn in different ways and I use the information and experience I have to help others process and absorb information quicker and more efficiently.

Great tutor and quick to respond

My tutor canceled so I contacted Annie plus a few other tutors. She replied immediately, and was so polite and helpful. She edited both of my assignments the next day. She even added bubbles to that explained why and where she had edited. I can honestly admit that I have fired my tutor and replaced with Annie. Shes fast quick and definitely a reply tutor.
