My name is Natali and I am a current Mechanical Engineering student at Colorado State University, and I graduated as valedictorian from my high school. I have 3 years of experience tutoring elementary school math and high school algebra/geometry, and I also have experience tutoring algebra based physics and calculus 1. I am a dedicated student and during my time in school, I have found that sharing my love of learning with other students is one of my favorite things. The most valuable lesson I have learned about tutoring came from my calculus 2 class. When I was struggling to think through a problem, my teacher asked me guiding questions that helped me to think critically about my errors and adjust my approach to the question. I found that this approach to teaching was much more helpful than being given answers when I was struggling. My approach to tutoring is similar to this. It is interactive and engaging, and I allow my students to lead the way with their critical thinking rather than providing them with all of the answers. My lessons usually include explanations of the concept, example problems that apply the concept, and individual questions for the student to work with. I am flexible in my lesson planning, and I will tailor the lesson to each individual students' needs.
I tutored high school students for 2 years in algebra 1 and geometry, and I have 1 year of experience of tutoring elementary school math. I have experience working 1 on 1 with my students, and each student I have worked with has grown their confidence and their passion for learning math. I believe that building confidence as a learner is one of the most important factors of learning and success in school. I challenge each of my students to show curiosity in what they are learning and to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts they are provided with.
I want to make my students' experience as beneficial as possible, so it is helpful to have specific resources and information about each students' needs.
