Hi! My name is Meg and I am a math and ACT prep tutor. I have two years of one-on-one tutoring experience, specializing in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and ACT Math. I enjoy tailoring my sessions to my students’ unique and individual needs. Learning is deeply individual, so I am committed to implementing the methods and explanations that work best for you.

I graduated in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in engineering science and have been working as a tutor and electrical engineer since. My engineering degree was math-intensive, and I use algebra and precalculus daily as an electrical engineer. Because of this, I have developed an intuitive understanding of high school math concepts. I enjoy breaking complex problems down into clear, simple steps that make sense.

I also have been trained to tutor ACT prep through a national tutoring company. I have been tutoring ACT prep for two years, in addition to high school math. I have worked with over 30 students in all ACT subjects, and they have seen their scores increase by up to six points across sections. In practice, I reliably score in the range of 35-36, so ask me about strategies I use to achieve this!

I have 2+ years experience helping over 30 students prepare for the ACT, and many have been able to raise their score by 5 or more points! Most of my students work with me for four to eight months to achieve the results they are looking for, but I am happy to tailor your program to fit your specific needs. The ACT English section tests your ability to proofread passages, and knowing your punctuation rules is a must. I am very familiar with techniques that will help you play to your strengths and am excited to help you achieve your goals!

I am patient and observant, and I use those qualities to make learning mathematics enjoyable and help students thrive. Learning algebra can feel dauting for students, but it doesn't have to be!

I have a degree in engineering science, so this is something I know firsthand! I teach Algebra 2 from the unique perspective of someone who uses Algebra 2 concepts in my profession and has a deep, intuitive understanding of them. I enjoy meeting students where they are and helping them build confidence in their studies of mathematics.

Precalculus is one of my favorite subjects to teach because it brings together fundamentals from previous math classes and sets you up for success in Calculus. I have developed a deep understanding of precalculus topics through my degree in engineering science and from working as a professional electrical engineer. I use my understanding of these topics to break complicated problems down into pieces you understand. Building confidence in Precalculus is critical for students interested in a career in STEM, and I have firsthand experience with this. My goal is to help you succeed, no matter where your understanding of mathematics is today.
Trigonometry

My degree in engineering science and professional work as an electrical engineer has put me in a unique position to be able to tutor trigonometry. I use trigonometry in my profession, and this has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of trig topics. I use my understanding to translate complicated trig problems into smaller pieces that are easy for a beginner to understand. My goal is to help students in their studies of mathematics so they can gain confidence in their abilities!
