Hi, I’m Lauren! I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Utah State University, graduating with a 3.8 GPA. During my time there, I completed advanced coursework in calculus, linear algebra, probability, mathematical statistics, and differential equations. I also earned a CRLA Advanced Tutor certification and worked for over two years in the university tutoring center, where I helped students in subjects ranging from algebra and trigonometry to multivariable calculus and statistics. In addition to my college tutoring experience, I have spent some time substitute teaching in K-12 classrooms, which gave me valuable insight into how different ages and learning styles approach math. These experiences have prepared me to work with a wide range of learners, whether they’re building foundational skills or tackling challenging advanced topics.
When it comes to tutoring, I believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in the process. That’s why I encourage them to “hold the pencil.” My approach is centered on asking guiding questions that help students discover solutions for themselves. This approach not only helps students solve the problem at hand but also builds their confidence in their ability to think critically and independently. Many of my students have shared that, with patience and encouragement, math has gone from being intimidating to being something they can actually enjoy.
My goal is to create a supportive, positive environment where students can gain both the skills and confidence needed to succeed in math. Whether you’re preparing for the ACT, working through high school coursework, or diving into college-level statistics, I’m excited to help you reach your goals.
