Melissa D.

My name is Melissa. I am a full time faculty member at a large state school in Colorado where I currently teach Organic Chemistry. To-date, I have taught chemistry at four different undergraduate institutions. I have taught at both large state colleges, as well as small, private liberal arts institutions. I have taught in both lecture and laboratory settings, and have really enjoyed helping students navigate Organic Chemistry during their undergraduate work!

I received my undergraduate degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota Morris. As part of my liberal arts education, I enjoyed taking classes outside of the chemistry department because it helped me to think about my major in the context of other disciplines. After receiving my BA, I continued on to receive my PhD from the University of Kansas. While conducting my graduate research, I also had the opportunity to teach in a wide variety of settings. I was able to teach lecture, lab, and did a lot of tutoring outside of the classroom.

I look forward to working with students on this platform who are navigating their organic chemistry coursework. I am happy to help build useful study habits and find ways to break difficult concepts down into more manageable pieces. Organic chemistry is a difficult topic and I am here to help!
