After navigating the uncharted waters of the COVID-19 pandemic, I received the "Innovative Teaching Award" in 2021 for providing creative learning opportunities for students as a part-time instructor. After one year in that position, I became a full-time instructor at my college of employment, and I absolutely love it! My current specialties are in College Algebra and Trigonometry, but I have a passion for all levels of math, bringing a fun and engaging experience to students who need that patient, friendly, and encouraging support. Many of my students are in Saxon math and have already found--through my guidance--that 30 problems a night doesn't have to be a tedious chore!
I was honored to be acknowledged as a "Distinguished Colleague" in 2022, and with my background, was invited to be a part of a commercial for my college in the Spring of 2023 to share our program and encourage students to look into the STEM fields. My reputation has seemed to increase and my colleagues across campus share that their own students mention me saying things like, "Dan knows how to make math fun and engaging!" or "I am glad that I took Dan's math class. I learned a lot and I don't know if I would have been able to pass without his excellent teaching!" (I share these comments as humbly as possible).
Although the awards and accolades are nice, I am most proud of my growing family. We just welcomed our fourth child in June of this year (2023). Two boys and two girls all under 9 years old definitely keep me busy. With my wife at home, I do my best to support all of them. Earning a modest teacher salary, my skillset is best used here to assist students in becoming more confident and to motivate them to see that the problem solving in math can be applied to their own lives!
I look forward to helping out, so please don't hesitate to contact me as soon as you are ready to take that next step towards success!
