I bring a strong educational and professional background to my tutoring, along with a genuine passion for helping students build confidence in their academic skills. I have 8 total years of teaching experience with high school and college students, along with one on one tutoring with adults, 5 of those years were spent teach Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and US History, both general coursework as well as Advanced Placement coursework. My teaching philosophy has always focused around finding a practical application of the material and making complex subject matter easier to grasp for those who may not have as much background in the material.
In addition to my teaching experience, I have over 7 years of experience working in the financial services industry. I’ve worked in consumer and business banking, equities, fixed income, derivatives, tax planning, and brokerage operations. I’ve obtained several FINRA licenses, including the Series 7, Series 63, Series 3 (Commodity Futures), and the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE). I have a strong base of understanding of interest rates, monetary policy, forex, capital markets, bonds, and derivatives (exchange traded options and futures). I am also in the process of obtaining my Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA) credentials.
Over the years, I’ve found that the most successful tutoring sessions are those where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas at their own pace. I strive to create that environment by being patient, encouraging, and focused on each student’s goals. I enjoy adapting my approach to the needs of each learner: some students thrive with step-by-step guided practice, while others benefit most from big-picture explanations and real-world examples. I take time to understand how each student learns best, and I use a combination of discussion, practice problems, and interactive exercises to make even complex concepts more approachable.
