With over 25 years of experience as an educator and performing artist, I have dedicated my career to helping students find their voice through clear communication and creative confidence. My background is built on a Master of Arts in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Science in English, Speech, and Theatre Education from Purdue University, which included an intensive study of Shakespeare and Greek Mythology at Oxford University. This foundation allows me to provide academic coaching that helps students build skill and self-assurance in their writing, literary analysis, public speaking, and performance.
My professional background includes a wide range of classroom and leadership roles. I spent several years as a Language Arts Teacher and Theatre Director at the high school level, where I taught English and Theatre curriculum while directing departmental productions. Currently, I serve as an instructor and director at The Arts HUB, where I lead youth acting and devised theatre classes and direct full-scale musical productions. My training with Second City and the Actors Studio, along with my experience as a professional actor in Chicago and Denver, further informs my work in helping students master presence, articulation, and storytelling.
I view theatre and the language arts as a lens through which we see the world—inviting students to shift perspectives, embrace creativity, and discover the possibilities within themselves. I believe that when children feel safe, seen, and valued, they find the confidence to take creative risks. My approach balances this social-emotional growth with academic depth, helping students identify their innate strengths and develop the critical thinking skills they need to excel from middle school through the collegiate level. I care deeply about the success of my students, and I aspire to help them grow into more expressive, self-assured, and compassionate human beings.
