Hello! My name is Hannah, and I am currently a junior undergrad student working towards my Bachelors in Chinese Language at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I started studying Chinese my freshman year of high school for the language requirement to graduate, which was six years ago now. but I ended up really falling in love with Chinese culture and language. I didn't take much interest in any other subjects in school, so I decided to stick with it. Though I have never worked as a tutor before in any official capacity, I help my younger sister understand her own Chinese course work as well as helping out my fellow classmates. My best tool as a helper has been learning fun tricks to memorize characters, which is arguably the most difficult part of learning Chinese, but I am also very comfortable speaking Chinese in daily conversations relating to subjects like hobbies, school, work, making plans, giving directions, introducing family members, describing objects and locations, ordering food, and other day to day conversational topics. I can also help you or your child understand the grammar structures and niches of grammar particles of Chinese Language.
My goals for tutoring are to help spread knowledge and interest for this language which I am deeply in love with. Chinese is generally regarded as one of the most difficult languages to learn and I hope I can help you or your child find ways to make learning an intricate and complicated language like Chinese fun and enjoyable rather than just another chore, even when it gets challenging!
