Hello!
I am a proud teacher in the most noble profession of all--the one that makes all others possible. I have worked many yrs. as a tutor, even when I was tchg. full time. I have taught pre-sch. for 3 yrs., & I have taught gr. 1, 2, & 3 in the reg. educ. clssrm., ESOL in K-12, & Reading in K-6. Also, I have taught English at the JuCo level. I earned a B.S. in Educ., an M.S. in Reading (I'm a certified Reading Specialist w/ adv. training), & a M.A.S.L. I have worked as an elem. principal. Tutoring one-on-one is THE BEST because of the rapport & relationship which develops w/ a stud. that paves the way for acad. success. Often, what students failed to grasp in small/ whole group instruction can be accomplished in private tutoring.

I am a lifelong reader, writer, & learner. A few pieces of my original wrtg. have been published! Literacy is the basis for acad. success, so it is critical for students to be proficient in reading, writing, listening, & speaking. I enjoy teaching all aspects of literacy: phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, & structural analysis. I have special adv. training in diagnosing & remediation of reading deficits. It is important to instill in students a love of learning through reading. Fun & exciting!

In high school, I took two years of Spanish, & in college I took many hrs. of Spanish. I created an ESL prog. for my dist. (K-12); it was so exciting to build the curriculum from the ground up. Knowing a 2nd lang. is critical in our world today.

In addition to working as a clinical supervisor of stud. tchrs. for a well-known univ., I am employed as a diction coach, translator, & ghost writer for a prominent person. I translate his thoughts & formulate speeches tailored to each diff. audience.

I love teaching/tutoring! I am experienced, enthusiastic, & educated.

Elementary (K-6th)

I served as a regular education classroom teacher for six years initially in my career. Over the span of many years, I tutored students in all aspects of literacy: reading, writing, listening, and speaking across all content areas (except math). I am a licensed bilingual Reading Specialist who frequently integrates elementary subject content as a vehicle for remediating reading, especially comprehension.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have many years of ESL teaching experience (K-12 and beyond) and, in fact, developed the entire Pre-K through 12th grade ESL curriculum years ago for a district in Kansas. I have tutored physicians who needed to demonstrate English proficiency, as well as kindergarteners in all-English schools who needed support. Additionally, I am a licensed teacher and certified Reading Specialist.
