Hello, I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in chemistry. And I have been tutoring organic chemistry for over 7 years now. I know the areas students struggle with and I can simplify those concepts to make understanding the subject easy and enjoyable. Hello, I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in chemistry. And I have been tutoring organic chemistry for over 7 years now. I know the areas students struggle with and I can simplify those concepts to make understanding the subject easy and enjoyable. I also have experience in standardized testing: ACS, DAT, PCAT, and MCAT.
I have a Ph.D. in chemistry with a focus in organic chemistry and biochemistry. Also, I tutor both organic and general chemistry. And I can help you with basic concepts to get you started and advance concepts when you feel comfortable.
I typically tutor using Bloom's Taxonomy - I go from the known concepts to the unknown and then from low-level understanding to more complex insights with applications and analysis of answers to questions. Students coming from general chemistry typically relearn the basics with me (basic review) before I transition them to the current organic chemistry topic and then explain how this applies to learning more advanced concepts and connections to real-life applications. The best way I tutor is to ask leading questions and then watch students solve a problem so I can tell if they are confident and can be independent especially after learning a new concept during my session. I believe if you understand a topic well enough, then you should be able to solve problems with minimal assistance--and this has worked for a number of my students.
