My name is Autumn. I am an experienced and well-regarded tutor with more than 600 hours of tutoring over the past 7 years. I teach a wide range of Math, Science, and Mechanical Engineering subjects.

My name is Autumn. I am an experienced and well-regarded tutor with more than 600 hours of tutoring over the past 7 years. I teach a wide range of Math, Science, and Mechanical Engineering subjects.

I have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Denver, with a minor in Human Centered Design and Innovation. My general focus has been one-on-one sessions with high school, college and adult students, though I have taught the occasional middle school student as well.

I have found throughout my tutoring career that every single student has their own unique way of learning. An explanation that works well for one student will make no sense at all to the next. So, the only way to truly guarantee that my student will learn the material is to adjust my tutoring style to suit them specifically.

I pride myself on my adaptability as a tutor; changing my approach on the fly based on what works for the student and what doesn't. Throughout the session I carefully watch the student's responses. Both what they say and what their body language says about where they're at and what they're feeling. If I try something that doesn't work, I change my method until I find something that does. I communicate with them as freely as I can about my approach and thought processes, and encourage them to communicate with me just as freely. Tutoring with me isn't a lecture, it's a conversation.

And, to what degree possible, I try to make my sessions fun. Especially with my younger students. I frame math problems as puzzles. I encourage them to try different approaches just to see what will happen. I try to get them to see mistakes as just a natural part of the learning process. As a pattern, the more my students are able to see their homework as play, the more effectively they learn it.

My son did 12 , two hours sessions in person with Gabe. My son was in medical facility and needed to continue to take tests for AP CalculusBC and AP physics in his senior year. We had tried Grade Potential Tutors who were horrible and frustrated my son their lack of knowlegde base. So we hired Gabe on Wyzant, cautiously. My son, who is a quick learner, found Gabe to be intelligent and resourceful. I say resourceful because my son needed to complete some physics labs where data was obtained. Gabe went out of his way to help my son. He bought material needed to create the labs, constructed the labs with my son. Gabe also has a deep understanding of Calculus and with his help my son got As on his final exams (this was after missing nearly 8 weeks of instruction) He keep us (the parents) who were in a different state updated. I would continue to us Gabe remotely when my son is back home. Don't hesitate to hire him as a tutor, he is wonderful.

Fantastic Tutor

Gabe is fantastic with my daughter. She was failing Honors Pre Calc/Trig, and in a matter of weeks, she started getting A's and B's on her tests. She has brought her grade up over 20 pts in less than 1/2 a semester, and she has a MUCH better understanding of the material. On top of that, Gabe is always punctual and professional. He's a great tutor and I highly recommend him!
