I'm Anissa! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies, and a concentration in mathematics. I am currently in a teaching credential program, where I am studying to become an elementary school teacher. So, I love teaching students and I find great joy in helping others grasp new concepts. Now that I am in my teaching credential program, I am learning how to design lessons that engage and challenge students. I believe that a tutor needs to be very patient and understanding when working with students. Learning a new concept can be very difficult, thus, it is my job to make sure that the student is in a comfortable environment where they can voice their thoughts and questions. I strongly believe that all students can succeed in every subject; some just need a little more support than others. As a tutor. it is my goal to empower the student and have them take charge of their learning process.

Throughout high school, I tutored several of my classmates in geometry, algebra, and calculus and helped them succeed. Additionally, in college, I was a tutor for mathematics, ranging from pre-calculus all the way to calculus 4. I would lead study groups with several students at a time. My job was to facilitate discussion between the students and ensure they understood the material. Furthermore, as part of my undergraduate experience, I interned at several different elementary schools around San Luis Obispo. At these elementary schools, I would support students with their learning, whether it was with mathematics or reading and writing. Also, this past year, I have been tutoring a 6th grade student and helping her navigate her online learning. I provide support for her areas of need and reinforce the learning done in class.

In college, I took several courses that were focused on the teaching of mathematics. In these classes, I learned about the effective ways to teach mathematics to elementary students. Additionally, I concentrated in mathematics in college. Thus, I took math courses that went

Algebra 1

As I mentioned previously, I concentrated in math in college. I tutored a lot of students in college from geometry to calculus 2. I am very comfortable with algebra and I’m more than willing to work in my own time to make sure I’m fully capable of helping your daughter.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a strong background in math and education, I earned my degree in Education with a concentration in Mathematics. In college, I tutored students in subjects ranging from Algebra through Calculus II, helping them build confidence and a deeper understanding of complex concepts. Currently, I’m working with an Algebra 2 student, so I’m very comfortable with the material and familiar with the most effective strategies for mastering it. I have a natural aptitude for math and a passion for making it accessible and enjoyable for every student I work with.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus is one of my favorite subjects to teach! I earned my degree in Education with a concentration in Mathematics, and I’ve been tutoring math for over seven years. In college, I tutored students in everything from Algebra to Calculus II, and in the past two years, I’ve worked closely with several high school students taking AP Calculus AB. This year, I’m continuing to tutor another Calculus student while also fine-tuning my own skills by taking advanced math courses. I’m confident in helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills, prepare for exams, and develop a solid conceptual understanding of Calculus. I bring patience, clarity, and real enthusiasm to every session.

Currently, I am in school for my multiple subject teaching credential and I am learning how to properly teach literacy, science, mathematics, and history to elementary school students. I am also currently student teaching for a fourth-grade classroom, where I design engaging and challenging lessons for the students.
