Evan K.

Evan K. is a Graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (B.M.) and University of Denver Lamont School of Music. (M.M.) An active performer in Colorado, Evan performs regularly with the Denver Philharmonic, Aurora Symphony, Longmont Symphony, Littleton Symphony, Boulder Bach Festival and Colorado Brass Band. He is the lead trumpet with Guerrilla Fanfare Brass Band, and has performed with many other Denver-based groups, such as Groupo Kaoba, Sabor de la Calle, Mannequin the Band, Diamond Empire Band, H2 Big Band, and Cumbia Explosiva. He has also toured the Midwest, South, and Northwest United States with the Jefferson St. Parade Band, and China with the Denver Philharmonic.

In lessons, Evan draws on the methods of his former teachers; (such as Joey Tartell, Alan Hood, David Champoullion, Vince DiMartino, Warren Deck, and Carole Dawn Reinhart), utilizing exercises and techniques that aim to make brass playing as effortless as possible. Music choice is catered specifically to the goals and skill level of the students, and can include any style; classical, jazz, pop, or any other kind of music that can be played on a brass instrument. For more advanced students looking to explore jazz improvisation, Evan is experienced in helping players develop key improvisational skills. These skills include music theory, deep listening, and ear training, as well as technical exercises, that help give even inexperienced players the confidence to take a solo. Evan has helped all levels of players, from absolute beginners, to advanced high school and college players, to comeback adult players achieve their personal, musical goals
