My name is Patrick C. I am a Colorado Department of Education certified professional teacher, currently teaching fifth-grade in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Northern Colorado where I graduated Suma Cum Laude and have extensive experience teaching virtually all core-content areas (math, reading, writing, science, social studies etc.) to students from a wide variety of backgrounds and with varying academic abilities.
I love to learn about the world and share my knowledge with everyone around me; teaching is a natural extension of who I am. I've been very fortunate to have had a successful career doing what I love, and hope to continue to make impactful connections with as students as we enter into this unprecedented period of history.
I have extensive knowledge of (and experience teaching!) a variety of math curricula, such as: Common Core, Core Knowledge, Eureka Math, Engage NY, Saxon Math, Math Expressions etc. In addition to my knowledge of curriculum, I am highly experienced in implementing a variety of math interventions and extensions consistent with the most up-to-date, research-based pedagogical methods. I am highly data-driven in my instruction and understand how best to cultivate a deep, *authentic* understanding of mathematics.
I have done extensive professional development on aligning and implementing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and practices in schools. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge of science content and numerous pedagogical "best practices" for teaching that content to learners of a variety of academic ability levels.
I have implemented numerous grammar curricula and even designed and implemented my own curriculum (comprised of a variety of resources) to meet the academic needs of a wide variety of students. I find the study of language absolutely fascinating and am passionate about helping others better understand the structure (and peculiarities!) of English!
