John is patient with Chris, my son when he gets frustrated thinking about nonpreferred subjects like humanities. Chris loves math can look at an equation and know the answer before he works through the problem. Working on essays is a journey with multiple answers, which makes Chris extremely frustrated. John teaches Chris how to do research in order to find the answer. Also how to form an educated opinion about a topic and be respectful towards people he doesn't agree with. I originally reached out to John for tutoring and in addition, he has become a mentor to Chris. John uses his personal experiences with different cultures to teach Chris how to articulate his thoughts and understand how others interpret his word choices.

John taught me some Latin American slang and idioms. He teaches without formal rules and conjugation. Talking him is very good practice and learning. He speaks a small amount of English only when necessary.
