I love teaching English language learners and getting to know my students! I spent a year living and teaching in Madagascar, where I taught English to students ages K-12 at a school for the deaf, and an inclusive school for visually impaired and blind children. I also taught teen and adult learners in my community at the church I attended. I taught through more formal lessons, interactive lessons with song and games, and also through exercises and conversation.
I know a little bit of the difficulties of learning a second language and living in a place where the primary language spoken is not your first language. I worked hard to learn Malagasy when I lived in Madagascar and also to meet my students where they were at when teaching English in Madagascar. I taught students with a very large range of abilities, from only knowing a few words in English, to students who were basically fluent and just wanted to practice speaking.
