Greetings! I am Lily. I am originally from Baku, Azerbaijan and I moved to the states in 1995. While in Baku, I received a master's degree in Russian Literature and Philology (a field of study that that deals with the structure, historical development, and relationships of a language). I tutored a number of students from all over the world that came to study in Soviet universities, but needed to acquire some mastery of Russian language first. I have successfully taught Russian to college students from Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Currently, I enjoy teaching Russian to my American grandchildren through use of songs, folklore, and videos.
I have a passion for Russian literature and folklore, and often use these as creative tools to help teach the language to my students. I love to build bridges from a person's native language to Russian and I enjoy watching students have breakthroughs in their progress.
