Bio

I am a positive, patient, and fun tutor. I usually work with elementary and middle school students when tutoring academics. I can also help with test preparation, writing, and organizational skills. I have taught English as a Second Language on a volunteer basis in the past, and enjoy working with students from different cultures. I am a positive, patient, and fun tutor. I usually work with elementary and middle school students when tutoring academics. I can also help with test preparation, writing, and organizational skills. I have taught English as a Second Language on a volunteer basis in the past, and enjoy working with students from different cultures. I also played clarinet professionally, so I can help with that and general music as well.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. I am a professional in management and administration. Much of my volunteer time is spent working with youth organizations involved in music, animals, and community service.

I tutored ESL on a volunteer basis for over 5 years, and very much enjoyed the experience. I also emphasize making the experience enjoyable and non-frustrating with an emphasis on communication.

I have played clarinet since 4th grade, and have performed professionally and for a number of community and volunteer bands. I emphasize fun and passion about playing in addition to reading music, embouchure, and ensemble.

I look forward to talking to you about your tutoring needs!

Career Development

Career Development

I have worked with students and adults on career development for over 20 years - both as a volunteer tutor with student organizations and schools - and as an adult mentor. Career development tutoring should be flexible, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to make good decisions in their immediate future - such as college vs. technical school, and emphasize quality professional development throughout their lives. Students should be encouraged to start thinking about careers at an early stage, and pursue activities and information to develop skills and knowledge.
Clarinet

Clarinet

I played the clarinet throughout high school, and as a music major in college. I have continued to play clarinet as an adult, playing professionally in the past in a Dixieland group, and in several community bands, usually playing first parts and occasionally as first chair. I have given private lessons on and off since high school.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored K-6th grade for over 20 years - mostly on a volunteer basis with literacy organizations and elementary schools. I am equally effective working with K-6th students individually or in small groups. I am patient and compassionate, I plan ahead, and I take a positive approach to tutoring - emphasizing that learning is fun.
