I am a Special Education Specialist. I have taught Special Education for 8 years and have tutored for fifteen years. I enjoy working with students who need help with reading, phonics, spelling, basic math, organization, and study skills. My specialty is teaching kids and adults who have Autism/ADHD.

I have a Masters Degree in Special Education and have over 15 years of teaching/tutoring experience with students who have ADD/ADHD. I use timers and token systems to encourage my students to stay focused and then reward them when they have. For example, with one of my clients, I will set a timer for five minutes of work time and then he gets a one minute "active" break. Each time he has the chance to earn a token and then he can turn in the tokens at the end of our session, for 5 min. of free game time on my phone.

I use a multi sensory approach. I focus on phonics as well as whole word teaching. I find using hands on teaching really supports my students learning and achievement.

I have a masters in special education. I am also licensed special education teacher through the state of Colorado. I am currently tutoring a 35 year old man with developmental disabilities. He reads on a second grade level. His math ability is at about first grade. I have taught special ed for 7 years.

I focus on teaching how to organize notes in binders, color coding subjects and how to effectively highlight information. I also use different methods for note taking and organization depending on the type of learner I'm working with, whether they are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic.
