I love teaching and tutoring students in mathematics and science. My goal is to first identify the student's understanding and needs. Next is to interactively involve the student as much as possible throughout the session. Finally, ensure the student understands the concept.

I have a BS in Physics and Math from Georgia Tech, a MS in Economics from the Colorado School of Mines, and a Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Colorado Denver. I have 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience and am currently teaching at the University of Colorado Denver.
I believe students can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate learning experiences. A few good educators can make a world of difference in a student's education. I strive to make a difference in all of my student's lives.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

The key to doing well on the ACT math is to work as many problems as possible from an ACT practice book. These practice books contain the right percentage of algebra, geometry, etc.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I want to make sure the student has strong arithmetic fundamentals first, along with other prealgebra concepts. Then we begin the journey into Algebra 1.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have found it essential to master Algebra 1 before proceeding into Algebra 2. Therefore, we may spend the first session reviewing to ensure those Algebra 1 concepts have been mastered. A firm base is necessary in order to build further.
Calculus

Calculus

I believe the basic concepts of calculus are relatively simple. If these can be taught and understood by the student, then I believe they can better tackle the mechanics of calculus. As always, I try to bring in real world examples.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

This subject represents a great opportunity to lay a firm foundation with the student for all future math courses. We learn the basics the right way.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I like to use the real world to explain the concepts in elementary science. If the student can relate to direct experience, there is a much better chance of learning these concepts. This in turn, can lead to a greater desire to learn more science.
GED

GED

I feel well qualified to tutor the math and science sections of the GED. My academic credentials, teaching and tutoring experience support this. I have tutored students in GED before I began tutoring with WyzAnt.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry requires the use of logic to construct proofs. This in turn requires sound knowledge of angles, triangles and plane figures. We start at the base and build up to the proofs.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Mastery of arithmetic is a necessity before proceeding to prealgebra. We review as much as necessary before proceeding.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus consists of a thorough review of trigonometry and geometry. These subjects are thoroughly reviewed before moving on to linear and quadratic functions.
Probability

Probability

Probability is a fun course if taught correctly. I make use of real world problems and examples to bring this subject to life.
SAT Math

SAT Math

The way to score well on the SAT math is to do many problems from an SAT practice book. These books have the right mix of algebra, trigonometry, etc. We work through these books together.
Statistics

Statistics

Statistics requires learning the terminology of the subject. We spend much time doing so and then doing problems to ensure understanding. This is related to the use of statistics in the real world.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry requires much work with plane figures and triangles. We focus on learning these very well.

Knowledgeable and patient

Wayne spent our time letting running through problems that would be on the test, and guiding me without directing where I needed additional help. He helped me to build confidence and focus on the areas that would have the most impact to my learning.

Patient and motivating

We went over pre calculus, he explained everything very clearly to me, and if I needed something to be explained to me again he had no problem doing so. We went over every problem step by step to make sure I understood what he was showing me. He is very patient, kind, and knowledgeable person.

Easy to work with

Good at explaining concepts, very familiar with GMAT which is what I'm studying for, helped identify some weaknesses I had so we can focus on those areas next time.

He is the BEST

He makes sure you understand the material and spends the time to make sure you understand all parts of the problem. He wants to make sure you understand how the problem was solved

Excellent Tutor!

Wayne is an amazing tutor. My son, a high school sophomore, learned a great deal from Wayne. He is well-prepared, asks exactly what my son needs to cover during the tutoring session, knowledgeable and knows how to teach math so that my son understands it. Moreover, he provides excellent feedback on materials covered during the tutoring session. My son requests him often. Wayne is also flexible with scheduling and works with us on timing. I highly recommend Wayne for tutoring!
