Hello, my name is David, and I am an educator eager to help you - or your child - along on your way to academic success! I have over a decade of experience in education, working in public school, private school, and in-home settings. I specialize in the humanities -- such as English, reading, writing, history, philosophy, and psychology -- as well as in standardized test preparation. That said, I'm willing to teach many subjects. I have a well-rounded knowledge of various pre-school, K-12, and college curricula. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, a classically trained pianist, an avid writer and editor, am skillful with a variety of computer software, and I'm a 2D studio artist and graphic designer. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and German Language and Literature from New College of Florida, and I received my MA and PsyD degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. My undergraduate dissertation, "Psychodynamic Perspectives on German National Socialism," was an interdisciplinary study utilizing psychology, history, and sociology to examine the complex phenomena surrounding the rise of the Third Reich in Germany. Because of my academic background in Sociology, I believe that it is an area of study in which I am qualified to provide instruction.

While making my way through the public school system, I had to learn proper study skills and habits in order to graduate with a great GPA. I am currently enrolled at New College of Florida, an honors college which employs an academic contract system, forcing students to be extremely self-sufficient by relying on the strength of their own study habits. I feel that my success there is a testament to my academic prowess, and I am confident that I could help any struggling student improve their study skills, giving them the essential tools they need to succeed academically.

I've done quite a bit of writing in my day, and I've helped a lot of kids improve their writing too. Using basics like spelling, vocabulary, and grammar to more complicated topics like diction, form, and syntax, I'm qualified and able to improve writing at any level!
