U.C. Berkeley, California
California State Univ East Bay (Master's)
My name is Christine, and I have been teaching since 2004. I have a B.S. in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley and a M.S. in mathematics from California State University. I currently teach at the University level and have taught everything from basic math and algebra all the way up to calculus. I started my college career at a community college. The first class I ever taught was Intro to Statistics and it is the class I have taught more than any other course. I have also taught (and tutored) basic math, algebra (I, II, and college), trigonometry, finite math and calculus. I am certainly capable of and have tutored other math courses such as higher level calculus and linear algebra. Please let me be your ticket to passing your next math class! Know that when hiring a tutor you should be selective because knowing math and being able to communicate the math language are two different things! Since I have been teaching, helping students in office hours and tutoring in the tutoring center at school I know how to get students to understand math on their own. I tutor the math and science sections of the ACT and SAT. Before I started teaching I was an engineer in the semiconductor industry. I wrote chemical recipes for making microchips. It was a very creative and challenging job which taught me how to communicate with not only engineers but also many non-engineering types. I am very good at breaking complicated topics down to simple understanding.
I can help you if:
* You need a little one on one guidance
* You just have one more math class to pass before graduation
* You are preparing for a standardized test
* You need testing techniques
* You need help managing your time
* You focus on the most important aspects of the course
* You need a patient and capable math expert!
In addition to the zip code listed, I am frequently in the DTC and downtown Denver areas.
Thank you for reading my ad!

Christine has been fantastic as a Trig/Precalc tutor. She is extremely knowledgeable and very effective at imparting her knowledge in a clear and concise manner. She is flexible in working with multiple resources--she spends time reviewing materials from my child's class as well as incorporating outside practice problems, resources and teaching tools that are very helpful. Can't say enough great things about Christine--would hire her again in a second!
Thank you so much for your endorsement. It was a pleasure working with your daughter. Please don't hesitate to contact me in the future!
Christine has tutored our child for the last couple of months. I appreciate that she reviews to make sure that our child understands. We feel she has helped to advance our child in this short amount of time.
Christine is a friendly and encouraging tutor! She worked with our kids for the majority of the school year on Algebra, and was very good about explaining things in a way the kids could understand. After using a couple other tutors prior to Christine, we knew she was great at math! We'll be using her again next year!!
I needed tutoring in statistics and Christine wanted to see my syllabus ahead of time to make sure she could help me. She was honest in what topics she could easily teach and which ones she was familiar with, but would need to review ahead of time (there was only one topic she needed to brush up on). She wanted me to provide topics ahead of time so she would be prepared for our time together. She is very kind and patient and she teaches in a way I can understand. She is great! I am writing this review after only one tutoring session, so that says a lot about her!
I was very happy to find a AP Statistics tutor for my son. Christine responded quickly to my request and was very accommodating. My son relayed that Christine had a thorough understanding of the subject and was well prepared for his lesson. She asked what he was working on ahead of time. She helped him review for an upcoming test and he was successful improving his grade.
Thank you for your feedback. I was happy to help. If your son needs additional help, please let me know. Thank you!
Christine is proactive by requesting student's current state in class and current homework before the first tutoring class. She is also very detailed in gathering information on the class syllabus and the student's current status in the first class and and gave a very good estimate on that. She also gives student some work to do after tutoring session.
I am always so appreciative when parents leave me reviews. It was a pleasure working with your daughter. Please let me know if I can help in the future!
She is great at explaining a wide range of topics, and very welcoming. Christine helped me with calculus and we were able to work productively and thoroughly through all of the problems. The lesson flew by quickly and she was very helpful with explaining topics that I had forgotten as well as introducing new techniques that I had never been taught before. I highly recommend her as a tutor and you won't be disappointed.
I am so glad I could help. I am glad you learned some new techniques!
Chirstine taught pre-cal to my 16 year old Junior. Christine was able to get my daughter to connect the dots in pre-cal and made feel confident that she could succeed at pre-cal
Thank you! I am glad I was able to help. Please contact me in the future if your daughter needs help.
Christine was very patient and explained things in a way I could easily understand! Will definitely use him again in the future!
Thank you Jason! Please contact me in the future if you need more help.
Christine helped me with my college Calculus 1 class this summer. She was able to take me
Step by step through every question I had and to clearly explain all the different processes that I was learning, which is something that my professor was unable to do. With her help I was able to be very successful in the class and I received an A. I would definitely recommend using Christine as a tutor and am myself going to resume working with her for my Calculus 2 class this fall.
I am so glad I was able to help. Your endorsement means a lot! Thanks!
I will have my daughter write a review that is more specific to the materials, but as a parent I'm very satisfied working with Christine. She's been flexible regarding time and location, and conscientious with following up. My daughter really enjoys working with her and says that she's getting a lot out of it for her online Pre-Calculus class.
Thank you for your review. I am glad that I was a good match for your daughter. She is a pleasure to work with.
Christine helped with a college statistics class. She is very good at communicating and explaining complex concepts. She has been very flexible and available to help when I had a tight exam deadline.
Thank you! It means a lot having your feedback! We will keep the momentum going so you complete your class on a high note.
Christine tutored my son in IB Calculus throughout his senior year of high
school. She is reliable and knowledgeable of the subject. She seemed often
to make difficult topics much more understandable, and was both patient and
insightful in her instructions. I highly recommend her. Thanks for all your support!
Thank you! It means so much to me that your son got so much out of our sessions. I wish him all the best next year and let him know that he can contact me anytime in the future!
Christine was so great! She really helped me with Math1070 for CU Denver. She explained things to me differently than my professor and really helped me understand the material a lot better. She is very reliable and very knowledgable in the subject. Christine went above and beyond and provided me with extra material for studying and was always available for last minute questions with my studying for finals. I highly recommend Christine!
Natalie, It was such a pleasure working with you. I really appreciate the great review. Please let me know if I can be of any service to you in the future.
Christine tutored my daughter in AP Calculus AB for several months this school year. Christine was extremely patient with her even when concepts needed to be re-reviewed. Christine was more than accommodating in terms of scheduling, and she seemed truly to care about my daughter. Christine was very respectful of time - was never late and never canceled. I highly recommend Christine as a tutor.
Laurie, I am so glad that I made a difference. Your daughter was such a great pupil. Please let her know that she can contact me in the future! Thank you for such a good review!
My 15-year-old daughter has been tutored by Christine for almost three years. Christine started tutoring my daughter in Algebra but also tutored her on Geometry and SAT prep. Christine is very knowledgeable in all areas of math and is happy to diversify her tutoring based on a student's particular need. Christine is very professional and always arrives at her tutoring appointments on time. Christine has also agreed to change locations or scheduling as long as she is given adequate notice. Christine is also very personable and made my daughter feel at ease right away. I highly recommend Christine for any student who needs help with math.
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words. I was really sad when your daughter decided to stop tutoring but was really happy with the reason. It is such a great feeling when I student feels confident enough to continue their studies on their own. It gives me a great feeling of accomplishment.
Great at explaining concepts and very encouraging. I will definitely have her as my tutor for my next math class!
My daughter is taking Math classes on Calculus from Christine and has been benefiting a lot. The teacher is very patient and has excellent communication skills which helps student to understand complex concepts.
I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a Bachelors on Science degree from University of California at Berkeley where linear algebra was part of the core curriculum. I then continued my education and obtained a Masters in Science degree from California State University East Bay in applied mathematics where I took more advanced courses in linear algebra. I am currently teaching at Metropolitan State University of Denver and teach many of the topics that are covered in linear algebra. This semester I am teaching Computational Matrix Algebra which is entirely linear algebra.
