Hi, I'm Emma! I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and this fall I'll start my Master of Social Work program at the University of Denver. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in human behavior, research methods, writing, and effective learning strategies, all of which directly shape how I approach tutoring. I've also worked for and interned with mental health and nonprofit organizations, which has given me hands-on experience explaining complex information clearly and working with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
My tutoring experience started in high school, when I spent several years providing one-on-one Latin tutoring to my classmates. I worked with students on grammar, vocabulary, translation, and study strategies, and I quickly learned that no two students learn the same way. That experience taught me to be patient, encourage rather than correct, and break complex material into pieces that actually make sense.
When I tutor, my goal is to help students build real understanding, not just memorize answers, and to feel confident enough to ask questions and make mistakes along the way. I tailor every session to the student in front of me, whether that means mastering a tricky concept, building better study habits, prepping for an exam, or strengthening writing and research skills. I especially enjoy working with students who feel discouraged by a subject, because I know firsthand how much of a difference the right support and patience can make.
If you're looking for a tutor genuinely invested in your progress who will meet you where you are, I'd love to work with you.
