I recently earned my MA in English from the University of Colorado Boulder after completing my undergraduate degree at Xavier University. My academic background focuses on literature, rhetoric, writing, reading comprehension, and critical analysis, and my graduate research centered on cultural rhetoric's and communication.
Throughout my academic career, I have developed extensive experience teaching, tutoring, lecturing, and mentoring students across a variety of age groups and skill levels.
My teaching experience includes university classroom instruction, one-on-one academic support, and teaching upper elementary English students in a classroom setting. I have worked with students ranging from upper elementary school through college and adult learners, helping them strengthen skills in English, literature, essay writing, grammar, reading comprehension, rhetoric and composition, and research writing. Working with younger students has strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, adapt lessons to different learning styles, and make learning engaging and approachable.
My approach to tutoring is supportive, patient, and individualized. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging with material rather than simply memorizing information. During sessions, I focus on helping students understand concepts clearly while also teaching strategies they can use independently in future classes and assignments. I break down difficult ideas into manageable steps, encourage discussion and critical thinking, and provide constructive feedback that helps students grow with confidence.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students realize they are more capable than they initially believe. My goal is not only to help students improve grades and assignments, but also to help them become stronger readers, writers, communicators, and thinkers overall.
