As an educator with 17 years of experience teaching students from Pre-K through the freshman year of college, I have a strong belief that confidence is the foundation of meaningful learning.
My first experience with tutoring was with AmeriCorps during my senior year of high school, where I supported kindergarten through 6th-grade students by collaborating with teachers and families to close learning gaps and build self-belief. From there, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Louisville. During my time there, I was selected to take over a class for a semester due to a professor’s emergency leave. This experience opened my eyes to the world of education. After graduating, I developed and implemented an after-school art program for my local school district that led to the district awarding me a position as an Artist in Residence to create a comprehensive art curriculum from scratch. These roles reinforced my belief that students thrive when learning environments prioritize confidence, curiosity, and growth. I also served as an after-school program developer, fostering student-led learning and a strong growth mindset culture.
After relocating to Denver, I taught small group core curriculum to students who struggled in traditional classrooms. Many began two to three grade levels behind and finished at or above grade level, with 80% successfully transitioning back to the classroom by the end of the year. I have also taught 8th-grade science using an inquiry-based, hands-on approach, building problem-solving skills.
Additionally, I spent four years as a veterinary nurse, gaining a strong foundation in small animal science.
Across all roles, my greatest joy has been helping students grow from discouraged to confident, resilient learners. I’m available most afternoons, evenings, and weekends. If you would like to schedule with me or have any questions, please reach out.
