Hi! My name is Jonathan. I hold a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from the Colorado School of Mines, and I tutor middle school through early college math and science. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish. I learned Spanish while living in Colombia and have completed college-level coursework through Spanish 4. I also hold Bachelor of Science degree from the Colorado School of Mines in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. This means I have taken and passed high level courses in chemistry, math, physics, biology, geology and engineering. I also have over 10 years experience as a private tutor, as that was my primary source of income until I became a classroom teacher.
However, credentials alone don’t make a great tutor. What truly sets me apart is my experience as an educator. I have over 15 years of experience working in education, both in the classroom and as a coach supporting other teachers. I understand how students learn, where they commonly get stuck, and how to help them move forward with confidence.
My approach is focused and supportive. In our sessions, I assess what you already know and can do, identify any gaps in understanding or skills, and then target those gaps directly. Together, we build the knowledge, strategies, and confidence needed to succeed independently, not just complete homework. Sessions are structured, encouraging, and goal-oriented. I aim to help students understand why concepts work, not just how to get the right answer.
