I’m Danny and love solving problems, coding, and mentoring. During my graduate research at UCLA (MA in Psych) and the University of Denver (PhD in Psych) I mastered all types of data (neuroimaging, survey, and behavioral) with tools including Python, R, and MATLAB. I’m Danny and love solving problems, coding, and mentoring. During my graduate research at UCLA (MA in Psych) and the University of Denver (PhD in Psych) I mastered all types of data (neuroimaging, survey, and behavioral) with tools including Python, R, and MATLAB. My interest in automation and advanced analytics led me to a data science bootcamp to start my industry experience including financial analysis at one of the Big Four, instructing an online bootcamp, and working on contract for data science initiatives at the NIH and FDA. I am an expert in the creation and evaluation of end-to-end data science pipelines. I’ve taught learners from many backgrounds, including college students, researchers, and analysts.
Teaching undergraduate research design and statistics courses, developing curriculum for an online bootcamp, and industry teambuilding and mentoring shape my approach. I aim for students to understand why their code behaves the way it does, develop strategies for when things go wrong, and create clean, reproducible workflows. I start with big picture concepts to anchor learning, understand gaps and goals for learning, use hands-on work to cement concepts, and then reflect and iterate. Learning centers on troubleshooting, leveraging existing resources, and mastering modular approaches for building end-to-end workflows. I value transferrable problem-solving skills over memorization. Hands-on experience is essential and I tailor sessions to the specific challenges you’re facing in your own work, ideally working directly on existing code or projects.
If you’re looking for clear explanations, structured problem-solving, and practical guidance grounded in real experience, I’m happy to help. Please reach out with questions or more information. Happy coding!

Data Analysis

Data Analysis

I have designed and implemented analytic workflows on image, text, and tabular datasets for a variety of purposes including research and proof-of-concept prototypes. Workflows include fMRI image sets, OCR, predictive modeling, and more. My experience is end-to-end from data collection and cleaning, to exploratory data analysis (EDA) and visualization, to modeling and inference.
Data Science

Data Science

I've used Python for data science workflows for 15+ years for robust, automated, and reproducible workflows. My expertise includes packages like pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn, and plotly and tools like Jupyter Lab, Git/GitHub, CLI, Anaconda, and VS Code. I like to dive deep into problems tackling issues like messy/missing data, feasibility, and inference.
General Computer

General Computer

I love working with tech. I've done everything from building my own computer, tinkering with Raspberry Pi, working on remote servers and cloud computing, to setting up a website with a home server for a backend. I'm always on call to help friends and family with printers, phones, internet, file format, and whatever else comes up. Feel free to contact me if your tech is giving you a headache and we can sort it out.
