Hi, I’m Sameer! I am an otolaryngology-head and neck surgery resident at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. I earned my medical degree from McGovern Medical School and my bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin. I have several years of experience tutoring and mentoring students from middle school through medical school. I have worked with students in algebra, precalculus, calculus, biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, and genetics, including honors and AP coursework. During college, I served as a peer tutor in biochemistry and genetics, helping students organize complicated material and prepare for exams. I have also mentored premedical and medical students, helped students prepare for the MCAT, and supported medical students studying for USMLE exams. In each setting, I focus on strengthening content knowledge while helping students improve their study and test-taking skills.

My teaching style is patient, structured, and encouraging. I begin by identifying what a student understands and the specific point where the material becomes confusing. I then break the topic into manageable steps, explain the reasoning behind each concept, and work through practice problems before asking the student to apply the same process independently. This helps me identify gaps while allowing the student to build confidence in their own reasoning. For standardized exams, I also focus on question interpretation, eliminating incorrect choices, high-yield concepts, time management, and realistic study planning. I tailor each session to the student’s learning style, academic level, and goals, whether they need ongoing support, preparation for an exam, or stronger study habits. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and working through mistakes. I want each student to leave with a clearer understanding of the material and practical strategies they can continue using independently.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I earned a 32 composite score on the ACT and have experience tutoring students in algebra, geometry, and other high school math subjects. I help students strengthen the core math concepts tested on the ACT while also teaching efficient strategies for pacing, recognizing common question types, and eliminating incorrect answers. I focus on identifying each student’s weak areas and building a structured study plan around them. My goal is to improve both mathematical understanding and test-day confidence so students can work accurately and efficiently under time pressure.
ACT Science

ACT Science

I earned a 32 composite score on the ACT and have a strong academic background in science through both my undergraduate and medical training. I help students approach ACT Science by focusing on data interpretation, graphs and tables, experimental design, research summaries, and conflicting viewpoints. I emphasize efficient strategies for identifying what a question is asking, finding the relevant information quickly, and eliminating incorrect answer choices. My goal is to help students improve their accuracy, pacing, and confidence on the ACT Science section.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have experience tutoring middle and high school students in mathematics, including Algebra 1 and more advanced math courses. I help students build a strong foundation in equations, inequalities, graphing, functions, exponents, and word problems by breaking problems into clear, manageable steps. I focus on helping students understand why a method works rather than simply memorizing formulas, which makes it easier to apply concepts to new problems. I also adapt my teaching style to each student and emphasize confidence, organization, and consistent problem-solving habits.
Anatomy

Anatomy

I am an otolaryngology resident with extensive training in human anatomy throughout medical school and residency. My clinical and surgical training requires a detailed understanding of anatomy, particularly the head and neck, while also building on a strong foundation in musculoskeletal, neurologic, thoracic, abdominal, and pelvic anatomy. I focus on helping students understand anatomical relationships and function rather than relying solely on memorization. I can tailor lessons for high school, undergraduate, and health professional students preparing for coursework or exams.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I am a physician with extensive biochemistry training through my undergraduate science coursework, medical school, and preparation for the MCAT, where I earned a 515. I help students understand topics such as metabolism, enzymes, proteins, molecular biology, cellular signaling, and biochemical pathways by connecting individual concepts to the bigger picture. I focus on simplifying difficult material, identifying high-yield concepts, and teaching students how to reason through unfamiliar questions rather than relying only on memorization. I can tailor tutoring to undergraduate coursework, pre-health prerequisites, and standardized exam preparation.
Biology

Biology

I am a physician with extensive training in biology and the life sciences through my undergraduate and medical education. I have experience tutoring students in science and helping them understand topics such as cell biology, genetics, physiology, evolution, and molecular biology by breaking complex concepts into clear, manageable pieces. I focus on helping students understand the connections between concepts rather than relying on memorization alone. I tailor lessons to each student's course level, learning style, and goals, whether they are preparing for an exam or strengthening their overall understanding of biology.
Genetics

Genetics

I earned an A in both Genetics and Genetics Lab during my undergraduate studies, giving me a strong foundation in classical and molecular genetics. As a fourth-year medical student, I continue to use and build on this knowledge through coursework, clinical training, and exam preparation, which includes medical genetics and its clinical applications. I have experience tutoring STEM subjects and mentoring students at multiple academic levels, and I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, digestible explanations. I am confident helping students in both college-level genetics and medically oriented genetics coursework.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored a 515 on the MCAT on my first attempt and have several years of experience mentoring pre-medical students preparing for the exam. As a fourth-year medical student, I continue to apply MCAT-level science daily, which allows me to explain high-yield concepts clearly and effectively. I focus on teaching exam strategies, critical reasoning, and efficient study planning based on each student’s strengths and goals. I am confident supporting students across all MCAT sections and helping them build the skills needed for consistent score improvement.
Nutrition

Nutrition

I earned my undergraduate degree in Nutrition before starting medical school, giving me a strong foundation in metabolism, physiology, dietary science, and human health. Through my academic work, I gained experience analyzing nutritional needs, understanding diet–disease relationships, and applying evidence-based principles. I am confident supporting students in introductory and advanced nutrition coursework.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have experience helping high school and pre-medical develop and refine their personal statements for programs such as college and medical school. My background as a fourth-year medical student who has been involved in interviews gives me a strong understanding of what admissions committees value and how to present experiences with clarity and authenticity. I focus on helping students articulate their stories, highlight their strengths, and improve the structure and flow of their writing. I am comfortable providing line edits, content feedback, and overall guidance to help students create polished and compelling personal statements.
USMLE

USMLE

As a Otolaryngology resident I have a strong understanding of USMLE Step 1 concepts and exam expectations. I have mentored fellow medical students studying for pre-clinical courses and USMLE-style exams, focusing on high-yield content, test-taking strategies, and structured study planning. My approach emphasizes breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable explanations to make studying more efficient and less overwhelming. I am confident helping students strengthen their foundational knowledge and develop a strategic plan for Step 1 success.
