Hello there! My name is Kelly, and I am an enthusiastic and adventurous teacher living in Denver, CO. I'm excited that you've found my page!
A bit about my background in education - I have been working in education for 11 years, and have nearly 15 years of experience working with kids and teens. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Child Psychology and Spanish Studies in 2018.
After graduating, I continued growing my skills as an upper elementary Montessori educator in St. Paul, MN and outdoor youth program leader in Big Sky, MT. My passion for travel and language then led me to Valencia, Spain, where I taught English as a foreign language for 3 years. I worked in both primary and secondary schools and provided private English language tutoring to both youth and adult students. During this time I developed a profound passion for creating engaging, real-world lessons for students and tailoring instruction to their needs and interests.
My contract in Spain ended, and I returned to the US to finish my teacher licensure in Elementary Education (K-6) with a focus on Literacy. I am currently a middle school English language arts teacher here in colorado and will be pursuing a master's in literacy education next fall. In my free time I love to travel, read, do yoga, climb mountains, snowboard in the trees, ride my bike, and spend time with my loved ones.
I am hoping to continue growing my English and literacy tutoring business with both ESL and native English speakers. My primary focus is on teens (students ages 11-18), but I am open to other accepting younger and adult students if interest arises. I believe that learning should be fun, rigorous, engaging, and personalized to meet the needs of each individual student. If you're looking to level up your English speaking level, study for an important upcoming exam, or feel confident on your exchange year you've come to the right place! Please don't hesitate to ask about personalized instruction to meet your needs.
